What changes the price of a teak sofa set

Two sofa sets that look alike in a showroom can carry very different prices. Three things account for most of the difference, and the biggest of them is invisible in a photograph.

• Solid teak or veneer. The biggest single factor, and the hardest to see. A veneered frame can look identical on the shop floor and cost a fraction. It won't last the same way, and it can't usually be repaired. Ask what the frame is made of, not what the surface looks like. Ours are solid teak throughout.
• Fabric. We stock a local range and can order imported upholstery. Imported fabric is the single easiest way to move the price of a set, up or down, without changing anything structural.
• Size. Pricing follows timber volume. A longer three-seater costs more by roughly the extra material, not by a fixed percentage — which is why a small change in dimensions sometimes barely moves the quote.

Finishes and timing

Every set comes in one of three finishes — natural, teak or walnut. The timber underneath is the same solid teak in all three; the finish changes the tone, not the construction.

A custom sofa takes three to four weeks from confirmed order. Exact dates are agreed when you place it.

Before you compare two quotes

Quotes for "a three-piece teak sofa set" are often not comparable at all. Get these three answers in writing before you put the numbers side by side:

1. Is the frame solid teak, or teak-finished board?
2. What are the seat dimensions — not the overall footprint?
3. What does the warranty cover, and for how long?

A set that looks cheaper on the quote is often a smaller seat on a board frame. Our sets are solid teak throughout and carry a ten-year warranty on our own manufacture.

Most of what we make is built to order, and the three things above are decided with each customer rather than fixed in advance.
